Sabian - Because Sound Matters

CHRIS SUTHERLAND TOURS SAGA’s HUMAN CONDITION IN EUROPE

One of Canada's top drummers, Chris Sutherland, is touring Europe with Canadian prog rockers SAGA, in support of their latest CD, The Human Condition. Christian Koch, our man in Germany, caught the band playing to a sold-out audience at the Colossaal club in Aschaffenburg.

Sutherland, who also plays with top Canadian rocker Kim Mitchell (you may remember Mitchell from Max Webster, who toured extensively with Rush many years ago) is mixing Vault crashes, HHX Fierce crashes, APX O-Zones crashes, AAX splashes, and HHX X-Celerator Hats with his favourite ride, the 22” Vault Jam Master, which was designed by the SABIAN Vault Team in collaboration with Tower of Power drummer David Garibaldi. Because he likes its biting sound, Chris also uses a 10” Chopper as an X-hat.  

Said Koch: "Chris gives Saga solid but very creative grooves that make the band?s complex music really rock. And his cymbal sound is interesting, probably because he combines different series to get a mix of bright and dark tones. Chris is well known in Canada, but after seeing him tonight I think he will also make a lot of new friends and fans on this tour."
