12th Annual Hollywood Drum Show

12th ANNUAL HOLLYWOOD DRUM SHOW

Raleigh Studios in the heart of Tinseltown Oct 20, 2009

The 12th annual Hollywood Drum Show was held last Saturday and Sunday at Raleigh Studios in the heart of Tinseltown. There wasn't any red carpet rolled out, but plenty of drumming celebrities were on hand and on the hunt for vintage and custom gear. The floor had tons of collectible gear for sale, vintage & new. John Aldridge was demonstrating his master engraving skills on a solid brass shell which was mesmerizing. Custom drum builders were displaying the latest in imaginative drum building. Of course, drums aren't the only folks with “custom” in mind- SABIAN had dozens of one-of-a-kind cymbals on display and showed the latest XS20 cymbals recently offered in brilliant and some new Artisan crashes that had the folks drooling. SABIAN's Bob Rupp, Chris DeLisa and Christian Stankee were there manning the booth.

There was a performance tent outside where SABIAN artists Todd Sucherman and Nick Rich entertained audiences. Todd had the place packed with folks anticipating his blazing technique and thoughtful musicality. They were not disappointed. Nick Rich is a young hot shot with the chops and attitude his famous grandfather would be proud of. SABIAN artists that came out to take in the event were Ed Shaughnessy, Frankie Banali, Carmine & Vinny Appice, Ray Luzier, Glen Sobel, Tiny Biuso, Glenn Noyes, Joey Scott and more!

Congratulations to organizer Kerry Crutchfield on a great event!
