During the dates of Sept.1-9 percussionist Tom Teasley toured to Jerusalem on behalf of the U.S. Consulate and U.S. Embassy. He presented a variety of programs in the West Bank in schools and post Iftar concerts. These took place in Ramallah, Hebron and Jerusalem?s “Old City”. The concerts were billed as The Rhythm Of Ramadan and included collaborations with Palestinian musicians including the religious folkloric group “Anashid”. In addition Tom presented a variety of workshops and master classes in cooperation with Sabreen Center for Artistic Development.
After the performances/workshops in the West bank Tom traveled to West Jerusalem to work in cooperation with The American Center, the U.S. Embassy post in Jerusalem. While there Tom presented a performance at The Shelva center, which caters to mentally challenged children. He also sat in with their students for a percussion jam. Also, Tom presented a workshop for 150 students at The Yellow Submarine Music center in the afternoon of September 8. That same evening he returned as soloist with the Yellow Submarine Ensemble for a packed house of jazz enthusiasts performing jazz standards, original music and jazz interpretations of Israeli folk songs.
