2013 SABIAN/PASIC SCHOLARSHIP WINNER
on 2/8/13SABIAN is pleased to announce that this year's SABIAN/PASIC Scholarship winner is Jacob Mannion of Toronto, Ontario. The scholarship is awarded annually to aspiring young musicians. Winners receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) in Indianapolis, IN.
Jacob is an active freelance percussionist. He is an energetic, charismatic, and passionate performer and often appears in recitals and performances around the city. Jacob recently completed his Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Toronto in percussion performance and is pursuing his Master’s of Music degree at the University of Toronto in the fall.
He has played with notable ensembles such as: The National Youth Orchestra of Canada, The Kingston Symphony Orchestra, The Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra, Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra, Ontario Provincial Honour Band, The National Youth Band of Canada, the Ceremonial Guard Military Band of Canada in Ottawa, and the Governor General Horse Guard Military Band in Toronto.
Mannion's primary instructors are John Rudolph, Russell Hartenberger, and Beverley Johnson. When Jacob is not busy practicing or performing, he enjoys hobbies such as running, playing hockey, and family time. Jacob is also the owner of the independent percussion mallet business “Mannion Mallets”.
