GROUP WEST POINT CONCERT BAND
David Bergman is a native of Portland, Oregon. He received his Bachelor of Music degree in percussion performance from the University of North Texas, and his Master of Music Degree in percussion performance from Duquesne University. He currently performs in the percussion section of the West Point Concert Band at the United States Military Academy, the New Amsterdam Brass Band, and in Project PDX. Prior to his appointment at the West Point Band David was a graduate student at Cleveland State University.
David has performed with the Oregon Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic, West Virginia Symphony, Canton Symphony, Youngstown Symphony, and Dallas Wind Symphony. He has also been a staff accompanist for the Conservatory of Performing Arts Department of Dance at Point Park University, and the Mary Miller Dance Company. He was a member of the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps in 2000 as well as the University of North Texas Indoor Drumline. David has received numerous awards and scholarships including winner of the Pittsburgh Concert Society Competition for his flute and percussion duo, Project PDX.
Bergman has studied percussion under Ed Stephan, Christopher Deane, Mark Ford, Andrew Reamer, Chris Allen, and Tom Freer. He was a student at Music Academy of the West for two summers where he studied with Ted Atkatz and Mike Werner.
