Country Greece       Group NILE

Biography
Born in Korinthos, Greece, George got his first drum kit at the age of 12. Already a member of local Death Metal band Extremity Obsession, George's talent and unique drumming technique did not go unnoticed. Having studied with Greek jazz master Yannis Stavropoulos, George brought a whole new vibe to the extreme metal scene.

George moved to Athens in 1999, joined Nightfall and recorded 2 albums, "I Am Jesus" and "Lyssa". At the same time, he formed extreme Death Metal band, Sickening Horror, and also began drum sessions with a wide variety of bands in order to beef up his studio experience. George's drumming was drawing rave reviews for its technical approach, precision, speed and musicality.

In August 2004 George joined US Death Metal band NILE, and moved to the USA to work on "Annihilation of the Wicked". Upon completion of the album, he began a world tour, and after his return George began work on drum clinics, demonstrating his unique approach to drummers worldwide.

In 2006 he joined the Athens Modern Music School and founded their Extreme Drumming department, which turned out to be a huge success. This led to George quitting his side projects and studio session work to concentrate on Nile, his clinics and a career as Drum Instructor.

In 2008 George released his first instructional drum DVD "Intense Metal Drumming", a three and a half hour tour de force that grew his popularity worldwide. At the same time he launched his official Drum Forum on GeorgeKollias.com, essentially a brand new online Drumming School.

A leader in Extreme Metal drumming, George Kollias stands at the top of today's Metal scene with his band NILE.
