Jeremy Kirk is Assistant Professor of Music at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas. At Southwestern, Kirk directs the Percussion Ensemble and Concert Band and teaches courses in Music Education, Applied Percussion, Applied Composition, and Music Theory. His previous teaching experience includes Coffeyville Community College (Coffeyville, KS), Marshall University (Huntington, WV), and public schools in Kansas and West Virginia.
As a performer, he has been blessed to share the stage with musicians including percussionists Michael Burritt, She-e Wu, Dave Samuels, Ney Rosauro, and Arthur Lipner; country music artists Sara Evans and Kathy Chiavola; bluegrass legends Jim & Jesse Reynolds and Ralph Stanley; and groups including Southwind Drum & Bugle Corps, Flat Baroque (Mostly) Marimba Quartet, Manheim Steamroller, and the Huntington Symphony Orchestra. He is in high demand as a clinician, consultant, and adjudicator throughout the United States and maintains an active touring schedule.
Kirk received the MA in Percussion Performance from Marshall University and BA in Music Education from Glenville State College. His principal teachers include John McKinney, Ben Miller, and Steve Hall. Additional study has been with Leigh Stevens, She-e Wu, Paschal Younge, Jerry Steinholtz, and Joe Porcaro.
Mr. Kirk is an artist with Sabian Cymbals, Mapex Drums, Majestic Percussion, Remo Drumheads & World Percussion, Vic Firth Sticks & Mallets, and Black Swamp Accessory Percussion, and holds memberships in the Percussive Arts Society, College Music Society, College Band Directors National Association, National Association for Music Education, and Kansas Music Educators Association. He resides in Arkansas City (KS) with his wife Nikki, son Clark, and daughter Chloe.
