Biography

Jordan Hastings is the rock solid engine anchoring Canadian phenoms Alexisonfire. After receiving a toy drum kit for Christmas 1987 (when he was just 5 years old) and being sick as a dog with the stomach flu, the site of the drum kit was enough for a speedy recovery. After taking up guitar for a few years Hastings started to seriously play drums in 1993 at the age of 11 and never looked back. His drum influences include Neil Pert, Stewart Copeland, Matt Cameron, Abe Cunningham, Dave Abbruzzese, etc. but it was the love of hardcore/punk rock like Minor Threat, Dead Kennedys, and 7 Seconds, which meshed his precise yet hard-hitting style. So dedicated to his craft, at 15 he commuted from the suburbs in Burlington, to downtown Toronto to play weeknight gigs with a punk band he auditioned for and barely make it back to school the next morning. He'd even have to sit in the kitchen until the set because he was too young to be in the club.

After playing in a couple of bands in his hometown, he landed a gig as the drummer for popular Ontario punk outfit Jersey in 2001, who went on to enjoy major label success. After extensive touring with Jersey they crossed paths with Alexisonfire, and went on to tour together quite a few times until Jersey decided to call it quits to pursue other projects. Shortly after Jordan joined up with Alexisonfire and has been with them since 2004.

Hastings has been awarded Platinum and Gold certifications, several MuchMusic Video awards, and celebrated a #1 debut on the Top 200 Soundscan Chart with the album "Crisis".
