Oliver Madas

COUNTRY Germany

Oliver Madas born in 1979 in Vienna and studied classical percussion at the Vienna "Konservatorium" and the University of music and performing arts in Vienna. He has been a percussionist for the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra since 2003. Oliver has been a member of the Association of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra since 2006 and has recently taken a position as a professor of Pedagogical Studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.

From Oliver Madas:

"What began as a hobby 15 years ago has developed more and more into a real passion. The prevailing lack of repertoire for percussionists at that time led me to write pieces myself. Due to the fact that I am a percussionist of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and a professor for percussion at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna I do not really have a lot of spare time for my hobbies. Still there is one that I was able to maintain - composing!

"Ever since I started composing I regularly get requests to write new pieces. Therefore I not only wrote pieces for several percussion instruments but I also wrote compositions for other instruments. These pieces sorted in different categories can be found among "Works". The visual samples as well as the audio samples allow you to get a small foretaste.

"Inspired by my lecturing I continously produce worksheets, exercises as well as concert pieces for percussionists. In the publication "Spielraum Vibraphon" I present a collection of exercises and pieces. These concert pieces focus on technical tasks always related to the musical approach. You can find all these samples and further materials among Teaching Materials."
