Sherrie Maricle

Sherrie is the leader of The DIVA Jazz Orchestra, FIVE PLAY and The DIVA Jazz Trio. She is the drummer with The New York Pops and is also the orchestra's Director of Education. Sherrie is also a busy freelance performer and a published composer/arranger in both the classical and jazz mediums.

DIVA has performed at many of the world's most acclaimed music venues and jazz festivals. They have been featured on CBS Sunday Morning, CNN Arts Break, The 25th Anniversary of the Kennedy Center Television Special and The NHK (Japan) Network's New York Jazz. Most recently DIVA is prominently featured in a documentary film entitled The Girls in the Band, scheduled for a 2010 premier.

Sherrie has received several honors which include: The Kennedy Center's Mary Lou Williams Lifetime Achievement Award, 2009; a tour grant from Arts International; a grant from Meet the Composer and was voted the New York University Music Teacher of the Year in both 1997 and 2000.

Recent recordings include: The DIVA Jazz Orchestra, "LIVE" from Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola, 2008; FIVE PLAY, What the World Needs Now, 2008 and The DIVA Jazz Trio, Never Never Land, 2009.

Sherrie is an active clinician for Sabian Cymbals, Yamaha Drums, Vic Firth Drum Sticks and Aquarian Drum Heads.
