Sabian artist Mario Roy has always been highly focused on education, composition and musical creation. His just-released DVD is designed to inspire and help musicians of all levels to better understand his personal approach. With guest appearances by Ralph Angelillo, Roxane Duchesne Roy, Melissa Lavergne and others, it tackles approaching and understanding rhythm through movement.
Mario Roy has a Bachelor’s degree in percussions from the University of Montréal and has taught drums and percussions at the Collège Édouard-Montpetit in Longueuil since 1987. He also teaches at the Saint-Laurent College in Montréal. In addition, he is a member of the Funk-Jazz “Caribbean Report” group and participates as a coach in choreographic workshops with the École supérieure de danse du Québec.
