In an effort to raise awareness and promote the SABIAN/PASIC Scholarship, a new Facebook page has recently been launched. “Facebook is the ideal vehicle to serve as a forum for percussion students to ask questions and gain valuable tips and insight into the application process for this important Scholarship,” says Sabian eMarketing Coordinator Katie Bursey. “It’s also a great way to promote the careers of our past Scholarship winners.”
The Scholarship was created by Robert Zildjian and Ian Turnbull in 1990, and the first Scholarship was awarded in 1991. Providing annual funding for one Canadian Percussion Student to attend the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC), it also includes a one-year membership in the Percussive Arts Society (PAS), one PASIC registration, one Hall-of-Fame Reception ticket, four nights accommodation at the Convention Hotel and transportation to and from the event location. Canadian undergraduate university students with a Major in Percussion are eligible to apply for the Award. The annual deadline for application is May 15.
