Greg Orwoll has been involved in marching music since the age of 8, first as a member of the Decorah (IA) Kilties (1967-1973), then the Osage (IA) Precision Aires (1974-1976) and finally The Cavaliers (1979), where he aged out. He has been the Executive Director of The Colts Drum and Bugle Corps since 1989 and on their staff since 1983. Prior to the Colts, he served as music arranger and director of the Decorah Kilties (1973-1980), and as visual coordinator and manager of the Rivermen of Stillwater, MN (1981-1982). Greg holds an elected seat on the Drum Corps International Board of Directors and the DCI Finance Committee and has instructed, consulted with and/or written drill for over 150 high school and college marching bands since 1976.
Greg was inducted into the Drum Corps International Hall of Fame in 2008, and has been voted director of the year for Drum Corps Midwest twice, and DCI Central Division once. He is in his 14th year as chair of the DCI Central Division (Formerly Drum Corps Midwest). Orwoll is active in the community, serving as chair of the Festivals Committee for the Dubuque Area Convention and Visitor
