Jimmy 'The Rev' Sullivan

James Sullivan, drummer for Orange County, California based rock band Avenged Sevenfold, and better known to his fans as "The Rev", was found dead in his home on December 28, 2009. His A7X bandmates posted the following message online:

"It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we tell you of the passing today of Jimmy 'The Rev' Sullivan. Jimmy was not only one of the world's best drummers, but more importantly he was our best friend and brother. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jimmy's family and we hope that you will respect their privacy during this difficult time. Jimmy you are forever in our hearts. We love you."

The Rev (born James Owen Sullivan, February 10, 1981) was the drummer for Avenged Sevenfold. He attended a Catholic school with A7X lead singer M. Shadows, but was kicked out in second grade. His first record was released at the age of 18.

In addition to A7X, Jimmy sang lead in Pinky Smooth, a surf-punk project with A7X guitarist Synyster Gates and members of surf-punk band Ballistico. His Pinky Smooth stage name was Rat Head. He was also formerly the drummer for third-wave ska band Suburban Legends. Two of his favourite bands were Rancid and Transplants.

Other influences were Vinnie Paul (Pantera), Dave Lombardo (Slayer), Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater) and Paul Bostaph (Slayer).

He had often said that he owned 6 cars, one for every day of the week but one. Ironically, he used to live in a car, and at another time lived in a Laundromat, where he worked during the day, and slept at night.
