Biography

Ryan Jonker is a percussion specialist from Kalamazoo, MI.  Born in southwest Michigan, Ryan graduated from Western Michigan University with a bachelor's degree in Percussion Performance.  At WMU, he studied under professor Judy Moonert.  

Ryan was a charter member of the Legends Drum and Bugle Corps, where he aged out in 2010 and is now a percussion instructor. Likewise, Ryan helped start Legends Winter Percussion as a founding member in 2011 and is now on staff with the group.  

Ryan is the Percussion Supervisor for the Portage Central, Portage Northern, and Parchment High School Bands as well as the Legends Indoor Ensemble.  He has also served as a percussion instructor for the Concord High School Marching Band and Winter Percussion section in Elkhart, IN since 2014.  Ryan has taught and arranged for numerous other schools, including the 2012 James Madison University Marching Royal Dukes from Harrisonburg, VA.  Ryan currently resides in Portage, MI with his beautiful fiancée Natalie, where he teaches 6th-12th grade percussion classes, writes music, and teaches private lessons.
