Dr. Jeannine Remy is a native of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. She holds both her Bachelors and Masters degrees from Northern Illinois University and her doctorate from the University of Arizona in percussion performance. As a percussionist and music professor Dr. Remy has taught at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Idaho State University. As a performer she has played in numerous symphony orchestras including: Green Bay (WI), Idaho Falls (ID), Oshkosh (WI), Phoenix (AZ), Pocatello (ID), Rockford (IL), and Tucson (AZ).

Dr. Remy currently teaches percussion at the University of the West Indies (UWI) in the Department of Creative and Festival Arts in Trinidad. She is an active composer and arranger in Trinidad and is considered a worldwide authority on steel drums. Her arrangements have earned her performers numerous trophies and prestigious awards in music festival competitions. While she has been in Trinidad she has become the first foreign woman to arrange for a large conventional steelband and a great deal of her music published in the UWI graded steelpan exam books. Dr. Remy’s 9 original compositions for percussion ensemble and steel orchestra, called the “The Rainmakers,” has been selected to showcase at the 2008 PAS International Convention this November.
