As an all-encompassing percussionist and educator, Dr. Cory J. High has an energetic career as a performer, clinician, professor of music, and recording specialist. He currently resides in South Carolina and serves as professor of percussion at both Winthrop University and Newberry College.
Cory’s performance accomplishments include being regularly featured as a percussion soloist throughout the Southeastern United States, premiering a number of chamber ensemble compositions, and regularly performing with the South Carolina Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also collaborated extensively with Wildlight Publications as a marimbist for multiple studio recordings.
Cory co-founded HighSeas Media in 2021, which aims to provide a greater advocacy for academic music.
Since its creation, HighSeas Media has worked with the University of South Carolina Percussion Ensemble, Nancy Zeltsman, Duo Plygas, the Allen University Percussion Ensemble, as well as a multitude of chamber ensembles.
Dr. Cory J. High holds degrees from the University of South Carolina (DMA), Lee University (MM), and the University of Florida (BME).
