A native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Ney Rosauro has developed a successful international career as a percussionist, composer and pedagogue. With his unique style of writing which combines charming melodies with catchy rhythms, he utilizes the rich elements of Brazilian folklore to create stylized compositions that are full of life and fantasy, and has been enchanting audiences all over the world. His more than 50 compositions and method books have become standard in the percussion repertoire, and his Concerto for Marimba and Orchestra is the most popular percussion concerto of all time and has been performed over 1.000 times by distinguished orchestras worldwide. His 7 CDs have been hailed by critics, percussionists and general music-lovers alike. Ney Rosauro has appeared in numerous solo concerts and as a soloist with orchestras in more than 35 different countries, including the most prestigious International Percussion Festivals. Currently he is the Director of Percussion Studies at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL, USA Dr. Rosauro is a Yamaha, Sabian and Contemporanea artist and play exclusively with N.R. mallets and sticks by Vic Firth.
