“TigerBill” Meligari is a drummer-performer, teacher-clinician, and author-publisher with more than 30 years experience in the drumming field. Over the years he has played nearly every genre of music from classical with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra to jazz with Thad Jones to Rock with Vince Martell, original lead guitarist of the Vanilla Fudge. His recording credits include albums with keyboardist Rocco Ferrante and Dickie Goodman’s hit album “Jaws.” TigerBill’s first book “DoubleDrum,” published in 1978, received praise from master percussionists around the world, including Louie Bellson and Roy Haynes. His book and DVD series “Tiger Bill’s Concepts of Tension Free Drumming” is changing the way drummers approach technique by allowing them to play at maximum speed with endless power, endurance, and precision while avoiding the dangers of physical injury commonly caused by playing under muscle tension.
In 2004 Tiger Bill proved the effectiveness of his Tension Free Drumming Concepts by winning the World’s Fastest Drummer Competition for Fastest Hands at NAMM and he also became the second human in history to play more than 1,000 beats per minute in single strokes with his feet, as officially recorded on the Drumometer.
In demand as an educator, performer, and drumset specialist, TigerBill teaches his Tension-Free concepts as a clinician for SABIAN, Pro-Mark, Taye, Axis, Hansenfutz and Pintech. In addition to his work as Webmaster and original content provider of www.TigerBill.com and monthly Drumming Speed Video Lessons for www.DrumMagazine.com, TigerBill is available for private lessons over the web at www.DrummersWishList.com.
