Percussionist, Joshua Bowman currently serves as the Director of percussion studies and Assistant director of Athletics Bands at Christopher Newport University where he teaches percussion lessons, percussion techniques and pedagogy, and directs the CNU percussion ensemble and the Marching Captains Drumline. In addition to his teaching Joshua is the administrative director and faculty member of the Indiana University Summer Percussion Academy and Workshop and has served on the faculty of the Interlochen Summer Percussion Intensive.
An active performer and teacher, Joshua has given recitals and clinics throughout the United States during his professional career. He has presented clinics for VMEA All-State Band and Orchesta, regional TMEA honor bands, SCSBOA conferences, Percussive Arts Society, and PAS Days of Percussion. From 2007-2014 he served as principal percussionist and timpanist for the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra of Columbus Ohio. He has also performed with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony, and currently is regularly engaged as a percussionist with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra.
Joshua holds degrees from California State University Fullerton and Indiana University. His primary teachers have been Todd Miller, Robert Slack, John Tafoya, Kevin Bobo, Steve Houghton, Anthony Cirone, and Gerry Carlyss.
