Bruce works as part of SABIAN’s International Sales & Marketing team. He studied timpani & percussion at the Royal Northern College of Music, in Manchester, with Ian Wright. Upon graduating he was offered a Junior Fellowship in Percussion, a post he held for one year.
As a free-lance performer he has worked with orchestras such as the Hallé Orchestra, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Manchester Camerata, the Welsh Chamber Orchestra, the period performance ensemble – Orchestra of the Golden Age, Orchestra of the Swan, Welsh National Opera and The Northern Sinfonia. In addition he was the percussionist for the UK national touring productions of Les Misérables, Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon, My Fair Lady and The Full Monty. From 1994 to 2004 he ran the Art of Teaching course for the RNCM Percussion Department and was the administrator for the annual RNCM Day of Percussion, a position he held for eighteen years.
In addition to his work with SABIAN he continues to work as a free-lance percussionist throughout the UK.
