Dusty Norris has served as the Percussion Director at Clear Brook High School in Friendswood Texas since the fall of 2007.  During his time at Clear Brook, the percussion program has won numerous awards in all genres of percussion including being a five-time silver medalist and the 2018 gold medalist at the WGI World Championships in Dayton Ohio.  Clear Brook is also a seven-time gold medalist at the Texas Color Guard Circuit State Championships.  In 2017, Clear Brook drumlines production of “The Descent” was awarded WGI’s Open Class “Fan Favorite” award.  During the 2016 winter season, Mr. Norris earned the honor of being the first percussionist inducted into the Texas Color Guard Circuit “Hall of Fame”.

Prior to his appointment at Clear Brook, Mr. Norris taught in the Pearland, Alvin, and Fort Bend Independent School Districts.  Mr. Norris has also been a clinician for the Tyler Junior College Apache Punch Drumline since 2001.  Mr. Norris has helped develop the summer technique program at TJC as well as consulted throughout the school years during both their fall and winter drumline seasons.

Originally from Indianapolis Indiana, Mr. Norris holds a master’s degree in music performance from the University of Akron, as well as a bachelor’s degree in music performance from Eastern Illinois University.  While pursuing his music degrees, Mr. Norris was a member of the 1996 Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corp and served as the director of the University of Akron Marching Zips Drumline.

Mr. Norris resides in Houston Texas with his wife Terri, and two sons Andrew and Ryan.
