Mathys was born into a musical family and seriously grabbed his first drumsticks at the age of 4.
He started touring Europe with different bands while still in his late teens and was offered to join Treponem Pal in 2006 to work on their reuniting project. Oddly enough they were the first French band to get signed to Roadrunner Records but met much greater success outside France. They toured North America with pioneer Industrial Metal band Ministry and Europe for numerous live performances with bands such as Prong, Carcass, The Young Gods, Pitcshifter, Nine Inch Nails, Godflesh and Killing Joke.
He stood as a regular last-minute bandmate for Black Strobe, to end up being the official drummer for the electro band famous for their remix of artists such as Depeche Mode, Bloc Party, Röyksopp, Goldfrapp, The Rapture, The Hacker, David Guetta, Rammstein , or Ayumi Hamasaki. Their cover of I’m a man was used in Guy Ritchie’s trailer for RocknRolla, The Walking Dead, and also in Quentin Tarentino’s Django Unchained. A world tour followed the release of their album Godforsaken Roads in 2014.
In 2016, Mathys joined The Deans, a progressive rock band praised by Iggy Pop and Tom Waits and with which he recorded Man is a crazy Animal (2019).
He’s now playing with Punish Yourself, a French industrial metal band best known for their stage theatrics and innovative style of industrial/punk music.
Mathys also teaches in various schools near Paris and in Northern France.
