BORN IN: Ithaca, NY
LIVES IN: Brenham, TX
PLAYING SINCE: 1992
BIGGEST INFLUENCES: She-e Wu and Alan Abel
MOST MEMORABLE PERFORMANCE YOU PLAYED IN: I had an opportunity to perform the Ewazen Concerto for Marimba and String Orchestra with the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra.
MOST MEMORABLE PERFORMANCE YOU DIDN’T PLAY IN: I had the good fortune of seeing Mike Portnoy playing with Dream Theater, way back when before they had really become super well known at a tiny club. It was a blast being that up close and personal with the band and being immersed in Mike’s amazing playing.
CAREER HIGHLIGHT: Performing alongside She-e Wu at PASIC 2005 as she premiered a work by Gordon Stout for solo marimba and percussion ensemble.
FAVOURITE SABIAN CYMBAL: It’s hard to pick, but one of my current favorites is the Evolution Crash. I have used this cymbal in wildly diverse musical setting from rock drumset to orchestral suspended uses. It is versatile and sensitive, but can pack a punch!
