Russ Nyberg is currently active as a freelance drummer and percussionist in New York City and can be found starting this fall, touring with the 2018-2019 US National Tour of Miss Saigon. Recent Broadway credits include Miss Saigon, A Bronx Tale, Summer: The Donna Summer Musical, Holiday Inn/The New Irving Berlin Musical and Side Show. Broadway national tours with Chicago The Musical, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas and Peter Pan. Classical and freelance performances around the New York area include Symphony Space, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Merkin Hall, 54 Below, The Triad Theater, The 92nd ST Y, and The Duplex. He has performed with Allen Vizzutti, Maynard Ferguson, Nipsey Russell, Jerry Springer, Tom Wopat, Kevin Richardson, The Wailers, Rich Little and Liz Callaway amongst others. Concert performances regularly with The Garden State Philharmonic, Broadway Bach Ensemble, Harlem Chamber Players and The String Orchestra of Brooklyn.

When not performing, Russ serves as a drum and percussion technician for East Coast Entertainment. He’s had the fortune to have worked with prominent drummers such as Vinnie Coliuta, Shawn Pelton, Bernard Purdie, Robin DiMaggio and many others.  Russ is a proud endorser of Sabian Cymbals, Innovative Percussion and Aquarian Drumheads. Russ is a member of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 802 New York City.
