Brant Parsons is a classically trained percussionist with 22 years of performance and 18 years of private instruction experience. He earned his Bachelor of Music (major in percussion) and Bachelor of Music Education from Memorial University of Newfoundland School of Music.  

While attending Music School Brant was part of the St. John Symphony Orchestra, M.U.N. concerts band for 4 years and principal drummer for the Jazz Band for 2 years.

In addition, Brant has 13 years of experience in Newfoundland & Labrador English School District teaching music history, applied music, theory, concert choir, classroom music, instrumental band/jazz ensembles.

Currently, Brant is now teaching grades 5 & 6 concert band at St. Georges, Bishop Field and Elizabeth Park Elementary schools in the St Johns area. Teaching concert band at these schools allows Mr. Parsons to engage, influence and inspire new students to the world of music and into the world of drums and drumming.        

Brant has held several drum clinics, master classes and technique demos at music stores in St. John’s, New Brunswick, Montreal and hosted a percussion workshop in Banff on behalf of Yamaha education Canada.  In 2002, Brant was very honoured to have the great funk drummer Zoro perform a master class at his drum teaching studio.

To further his education and development, Brant has attended many drum clinics, concerts and master classes over the years.  It all started in 2001 when he attended the Montreal drum festival.  As an educator in the school system in Newfoundland, band educators attend professional development seminars 2 – 4 time per year to learn new ways to incorporate teaching strategies, techniques and technologies to further the education the students.  As a private drum instructor, Brant takes what was learned from teaching in the schools and incorporate some of these teaching techniques and ideas to his annual Drum Camps and private students as well.

Brant is also the founder, coordinator and facilitator of the annual educational Drum event called Drum Camp. With guidance and inspiration from world class educator Dom Famulario, he began designing drumming curriculum ideas and lesson plans his first drum camp which was held in 2003. Drum Camp continues to have a strong attendance attracting over 18 students each year. This unique Camp remains to be a one of a kind program in Newfoundland that is designed to educated, captivate and motivate drummers of all different ages and levels, to explore the world of drums and drumming in a fun, educational and professional setting. Drum Camp celebrated 13th year in 2016.

Brant has recorded/performed with local artists such as Neal O`Leary, Sharon Clark, Selina Boland, Don Brenton, Lew Skinner, Kelly Loader and Justin Martin to name a few. Today, he plays with a progressive band Rok-It Sauce and cover band Cripple Creek.
