Puerto Rico native Jorge Ginorio is an accomplished percussionist, educator & clinician. He specializes in traditional and contemporary applications of rhythms and instruments from Africa, the Caribbean, and the Americas. His diverse musical backgrounds and experience results in a unique blend of creativity, versatility, and skills that enhances all styles of music.

As graduate from the prestigious University of North Texas in Denton, Texas, Jorge’s practical education has continued through the years with extensive studies in Afrocuban, Brazilian, and Afropuertorican popular and folkloric percussion. Including studies at Escuela Nacional de Arte in Havana, Cuba, where he’s had the opportunity to study with some of Cuba’s master percussionists, including: José Luis Quintana “Changuito”, Carlos Aldama, and the late Regino Jiménez.

Throughout his performing career, Jorge has had the honor to perform, tour, and record with many artists such as: Alex Acuña, Tom Braxton, Ignacio Berroa, Brave Combo, Cindy Cruse-Ratcliff, Aretha Franklin, Carlos Guedes, Mark Harper, Israel Houghton, Derrick Horne, Airto Moreira, Andy Narell, Pan Ramajay, Pieces of a Dream, Rob Rose, Dave Samuels, Poncho Sánchez, Selah, Bobby Schew, Michael Spiro, Fletch Wiley, and Charlie Zaa.

As an educator/clinician he stays extremely active conducting lessons, clinics, and workshops. He has presented at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmaster Association, as well as in universities, colleges, cultural centers and music stores. Currently Jorge is an adjunct faculty member at Mountain View College, where he conducts the World Drumming & Latin Jazz Ensembles, and continues to be integral part of the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas musical scene as a freelance and studio musician.
