Lawrence E Young Jr is the Director of Bands and a 1993 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in Pensacola FL. Mr. Young has studied percussion with Dr. Shaylor James at Florida A & M University and Wayne Webster (Ret. MGySgt. President’s Own Marine Band) while attaining his B.A in Music Education at The University of West Florida. Mr. Young also has a Masters Degree in Music Ed from Florida A & M University. Prior to becoming a Band director at Booker T. Washington Mr. Young served as percussion instructor and arranger for the Booker T. Washington High School Drumline for 7 years. Mr. Young currently director of bands at Booker T. Washington which includes marching band and percussion, symphonic bands, jazz band, and other small ensembles. Mr. Young also performs locally and regionally as freelance musician. Mr. Young’s professional affiliations include FMEA, FBA, MENC, Phi Beta Mu, and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.
