From Oliver Madas:
“What began as a hobby 15 years ago has developed more and more into a real passion. The prevailing lack of repertoire for percussionists at that time led me to write pieces myself. Due to the fact that I am a percussionist of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and a professor for percussion at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna I do not really have a lot of spare time for my hobbies. Still there is one that I was able to maintain – composing!
“Ever since I started composing I regularly get requests to write new pieces. Therefore I not only wrote pieces for several percussion instruments but I also wrote compositions for other instruments. These pieces sorted in different categories can be found among “Works”. The visual samples as well as the audio samples allow you to get a small foretaste.
“Inspired by my lecturing I continously produce worksheets, exercises as well as concert pieces for percussionists. In the publication “Spielraum Vibraphon” I present a collection of exercises and pieces. These concert pieces focus on technical tasks always related to the musical approach. You can find all these samples and further materials among Teaching Materials.”
