Javi Ruibal, born in 1983 in El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz), is a Spanish drummer, percussionist, and producer whose style blends jazz, flamenco, Latin, funk, and world music. The son of singer-songwriter Javier Ruibal, he began his professional career at the age of 15, touring internationally with his father. He trained in sound engineering and percussion in Madrid, Cuba, and New York, mastering modern drumming and Afro-Latin percussion. Throughout his career, he has performed alongside artists such as Dorantes, Carmen Linares, Kiko Veneno, and Renaud García-Fons, appearing at prestigious festivals like Jazz at Lincoln Center and Rock in Rio.
As the leader of the Javi Ruibal Quartet, he has released the albums Solo un mundo (2019), recognized at the MIN Awards, and Luz (2025), a work that delves into new territories of jazz fusion and global sounds. His music stands out for its highly personal rhythmic language, combining acoustic drums, hybrid percussion, and a creative sensibility deeply rooted in diverse musical cultures.
