Jose Guerrero is a freelance percussionist and educator from Brownsville, TX. Jose Is the Director of Percussion at Port Isabel High School where he teaches percussion to students 6th-12th grade. He is also an active drummer in the South Texas area playing most consistently with his band, The Sound.
In 2013, Jose had the privilege of marching tenors with the Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps. In 2016 and 2017, he marched tenors with Timbre Indoor Percussion. In 2022, he graduated from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley with a bachelor’s in Music Education, where he studied under Dr. Joe W. Moore III. While at UTRGV, he played with various ensembles and in 2017, he won the PASIC Solo Timpani Contest.
Jose resides in Brownsville with his wife Iliana, his sons Alejandro and Elias, and his four dogs Zuko, Sofie, Luna, and Rollie.
