Trenton Brown is currently the Director of Percussion and Assistant Band Director at Starkville High School for the Starkville Oktibbeha School District. Before Starkville, Trenton taught at Center Hill High School in Olive Branch, MS as the Director of Percussion and Assistant Band Director. He graduated in 2018 from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Music Education degree.
In 2015 as a performer, Trenton was named winner of the Mississippi Chapter of Percussive Arts Society Solo Competition for multiple percussion. Trenton was the captain of the MSU drumline and the principal percussionist in the wind ensemble in 2016-2017. He also received MSU’s Department of Music’s Most Outstanding Musician in Percussion Area award and won first place in MSU’s Concerto Competition in 2016 where he was the featured soloist with the Starkville Symphony Orchestra. Before graduation, he also presented at the College of Education Research Forum.
In addition to MSU, his other performing experiences includes marching WGI with Atlanta Quest Indoor Drumline on snare drum and performing at PASIC in the Chamber Competition. Trenton also has taught and composed for various schools in Mississippi.
In 2022, Trenton founded and established Starkville High School’s Indoor Percussion group. In 2024, Starkville Indoor Percussion finished 2nd place at State Championships. Trenton’s professional affiliations include Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Percussive Arts Society, and the Mississippi Band Directors Association. He also serves as the secretary of the Mississippi Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society. Trenton proudly endorses Sabian cymbals and Vic Firth.
Trenton spends his free time binge-watching TV shows and movies with his wife and playing video games.
